Guatemala - Huehuetenango Institute Outreach Orthodox Mission Team

AGUACATE, Guatemala – Are you a student at an Orthodox Seminary?  Earn credit hours and study Orthodox Christian missiology under the supervision of Fr. Luke Veronis, adjunct professor of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.

This class consists of two parts; coursework offered through Holy Cross/Hellenic College and a mission practicum that will be held in Guatemala.  This summer class combines an academic element, a missions experience, and a spiritual pilgrimage.

Course Description

The Missiology of Archbishop Anastasios mission class and practicum is a 3-credit class that will study the life, missiology and writings of Archbishop Anastasios (Yannoulatos) of Albania, the foremost Orthodox missionary and missiologist in the world today. This class will examine how he has lived this missiology through his ministry in the Church of Albania. The course will look at the foundation and calling of missions, study the resurrection of the Church of Albania over the past 30 years, and examine how the church has succeeded in living out the missiology of the Archbishop. Typically, this class has included a practicum to Albania where we have witnessed the resurrection of the Church and met with Archbishop Anastasios. This year, this course is being adjusted to replace the practicum to Albania with a practicum to Guatemala, where we will study the mission strategy and outreach among the Mayan Indians.
