Missionary Serving in Albania
Georgia always had a love for travel and during her studies at Duke, she made pilgrimages to Greece and also spent a semester in Russia where she visited many holy sites. At that time, she knew that she would not pursue a typical career as all her peers were doing. Around the time of her graduation she came across the OCMC and spent two years preparing to enter a two-year mission assignment. In 2004, she moved to Tirana, Albania to work with the blessing of His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios as an English teacher at Protagonists School (a private elementary school which had just been started by the Church in Albania).
She has remianed serving in Albania for almost 15 years. In 2008, she and Fr. Anastasios were married in Tirana. He was then Archbishop Anastasios’ translator, a translator of religious books, and the editor for the Church’s scholarly journal. Since then he has also become a priest, serving at the Resurrection Cathedral of Tirana. They have been blessed with 4 children, Vasili (10), Evdoxia (7), Maria (5), and Xenia (3).
She is very grateful to supporters in America who help her to continue in Albania through financial support and prayers.
