Hannah Valentine

MISSIONARY SERVING in Albania

Meet Hannah Valentine

Missionary Hannah Valentine

When Hannah was two years old, her family entered the Orthodox Church. Her parents raised her to love the Church and our Lord Jesus. From her earliest years, she desired to follow in the footsteps of St. Innocent of Alaska and become a missionary. After obtaining an Associate's Degree at Kirkwood Community college in 2014, she entered a monastery as a novice for five years. In the spring of 2021, she returned to her small hometown of South Amana, IA, for a time of discernment. The Lord then unexpectedly opened up a door for her to pursue full-time missionary work in Tirana, Albania.

Hannah has a passion for interacting with and educating young people, especially in our Orthodox faith. She has assisted in and taught different age level Sunday School classes at her parish, and has been a counselor at Camp St. George three different years. Her experience in short term missions include a week in Mexico and a virtual class given to Kenyan schoolchildren. Some of her favorite activities include writing, gardening, learning languages, walking and teaching.

In Albania, Hannah is working with Nathan and Gabriela Hoppe in starting up a catechism class for highschool students in the Protagonist School in Tirana. She is grateful to all of her supporters for their prayerful and financial assistance.
