Theology in Colours: A Brief Introduction to Byzantine Iconography (in Spanish)
Orthodox Christians use icons to decorate their homes and churches, to pray, and to learn about their ancient faith. According to the Church Fathers, icons are not only learning tools, but most importantly they are holy images that lead the faithful to an inner, spiritual experience, by revealing the divine reality. When the faithful venerate a holy icon, they are connected to the Prototype, our Lord Jesus Christ, in Whose Image we are made, and Who is the Image of God the Father. This short introduction to the meaning of icons in Eastern Christian thought will include an overview of the history of Byzantine iconography, as well as elements of content and style.
This live presentation in Spanish is scheduled for Saturday, Dec 4, from 8:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. E.S.T., and it will be addressed to the newly established mission parish located in Cerete, Colombia.

One way the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) bridges the distance between Churches is through Orthodox Mission Teams. Mission Teams connect Orthodox Christians in North America and communities around the world, establishing bonds of love, support and mutual learning. Teams accomplish this by:
- Presenting a visible expression of the love, unity, and support;
- Sharing the teachings of the Orthodox Faith and providing labor; and
- Increasing awareness of overseas Orthodox churches and the unending mission efforts of the Church.
OCMC Teams respond to the needs around the world -- send disciples and change lives. We thank you for being a part of this awesome ministry!
