2021 Virtual Mission Team - Colombia Cerete Teach III
Christ is risen!
I have committed to participate in the third Virtual Team to Colombia on Saturday June 19th, 2021. Both the January and February Teams had great experiences with their Virtual presentations which focused on the Sacraments of the Orthodox Church. Fr. Rafael has been ministering in this rural village for some years. He shared that in the last few months, this small community has had 5 baptisms (4 babies and one adult) and 2 recent weddings. The majority of the community come from Catholic or Protestant backgrounds. Most of those who attended the other Virtual Teams were Orthodox, but a few were catechumens. The Divine Liturgy is celebrated outdoors in the area that the community will gather for the Virtual event.
For this Saturday’s event, the other Team Members will present on: Modern Day Missions Stories from the field; Apostolic Era Mission Efforts of the Orthodox Church – the life and example of St. Jude, Evangelist to Judea, Galilee, Samaria and Idumaia, and later to Arabia, Syria and Mesopotamia; Stories from Alaska - St. Herman with a focus on mission journeys to spread the faith; The Feast of the Ascension and how the Holy Apostle Andrew then took the Good News of Christ to the world; Work of the brothers, Cyril and Methodios.
I will be presenting on: What does it mean to ‘share our faith’ in the Orthodox context? What does an Orthodox person do to invite people to their Church? Do I have to be a Theologian to share my faith?
Approximately 50 adults (many from Protestant backgrounds) and a number of youngsters are planning to attend the previous Virtual Teams. Most of the community will gather outside under a tent, but others may log in remotely. Please keep me in your prayers.
Your financial support of this beautiful ministry is appreciated. Won’t you consider a donation to make this event possible?

One way the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) bridges the distance between Churches is through Orthodox Mission Teams. Mission Teams connect Orthodox Christians in North America and communities around the world, establishing bonds of love, support and mutual learning. Teams accomplish this by:
- Presenting a visible expression of the love, unity, and support;
- Sharing the teachings of the Orthodox Faith and providing labor; and
- Increasing awareness of overseas Orthodox churches and the unending mission efforts of the Church.
OCMC Teams respond to the needs around the world -- send disciples and change lives. We thank you for being a part of this awesome ministry!
