St Mary Rangers

Welcome to our OCMC 2020 Virtual Trek4Missions. During these unprecedented times, our team made a pledge to focus on our personal health and help send OCMC missionaries to the ends of the earth to preach the Gospel of Christ! Together we are accepting the challenge to "trek" through our community to bring awareness of Orthodox missions. Our goal is to complete 250 miles over the next 5 weeks, starting 9 August to 14 September.

From near and far, come join our team!

OCMC's mission is to obey Christ's Great Commission and make disciples of all nations by bringing people to Christ and His Church. All proceeds raised through our fundraising will go directly towards their efforts to recruit, train, send, and support Orthodox missionaries.

OCMC is supported by individual donors like our team. Donations large and small help brings the Gospel message one step closer to reach the 1 billion people who have yet to hear the Good News. We hope you will join us to help send disciples and change lives by donating to our page or joining our team. If you would like to join, help us complete our team goal by walking, running, cycling, and more, along with, raising funds for OCMC.

Together we can help bring the life-transforming Gospel into the world!

The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; Therefore, pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Luke 10:2)

Team Reflection 8/9/2020:

In remembrance of St. Herman, we conduct this week's virtual trek through Alaska! Alaska lies at the extreme northwest of the North American continent, and the Alaska Peninsula is the largest peninsula in the Western Hemisphere. Because the 180th meridian passes through the state's Aleutian Islands, Alaska's westernmost portion is in the Eastern Hemisphere. Thus, technically, Alaska is in both hemispheres. The name Alaska is derived from the Aleut alaxsxa or alaxsxix̂, both meaning "mainland" or "great land."

Indeed, Alaska has an immense area and a great variety of physical characteristics. Aside from its mainland peninsula, the state includes about 15,000 square miles (38,800 square km) of fjords and inlets and about 34,000 miles (54,400 km) of indented tidal coastline. In addition, most of the continental shelf of the United States lies along Alaska's coast. St. Herman's home was Kodiak- https://www.alaskapublic.org/2015/09/24/pilgrimage-to-spruce-island/ But if that's not enough, AllTrails has 598 great hiking trails, trail running trails, mountain biking trails and more, with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers, and nature lovers like you. If you're looking for the best trails around There are 260 moderate trails in Alaska ranging from 0.9 to 388.7 miles and from 0 to 5,416 feet above sea level. Start checking them out and you'll be out on the trail [Virtually] in no time! O Blessed Hermit of Spruce Island, good teacher of the faith in the Holy Trinity, and our Spiritual Father, intercede before the throne of the Almighty God, for peace within the Church, the dispelling of all disuni ty, faithlessness and discord. https://www.oca.org/fs/st-herman-of-alaska https://myocn.net/two-alaskan-monastic-communities-on-spruce-and-nilus-islands-part-1/
